Wow! It's officially been a month since the launch of 100 Pages Left and I'm so excited to share what I read during September this year! Thank you to all of you who have supported my blog. It means so much to me! ❤️
So, without further ado, my reads of September 2021. Click on the cover image to go to the book's Goodreads page!
1. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
Series: Lunar Chronicles #2
Genres: YA Fantasy, Dystopia, Fairy Tale Retellings, Romance, Adventure
Release Date: February 5, 2013
Rating: 4 stars
I started the Lunar Chronicles series back in late August and I finished Scarlet at the beginning of September. I really wish I read this series when I was younger but I am still enjoying it! Basically, this series is set in a post-World War 4 society with the introduction of Cinder in New Beijing. Cinder is a mechanic and a cyborg who lives with her stepmother and stepsisters. Cinder is based on Cinderella, and Scarlet is based on Little Red Riding Hood! Each book in the series focuses on a fairytale but they are all interconnected stories with a unique and amazing plot!
2. Cress by Marissa Meyer
Series: Lunar Chronicles #3
Genres: YA Fantasy, Dystopia, Fairy Tale Retellings, Romance, Adventure
Release Date: February 4, 2014
Rating: 4.5 stars
Cress is a Rapunzel retelling and I really enjoyed this one! Very exciting plot and twists! I can't wait to read the next one, Winter, which is based on Snow White. There's also a novella (Fairest) so I may read that first. I'll be revisiting this series in December because I want to read my spooky books first LOL.
3. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Genres: YA Contemporary, Mystery, Thriller, Romance
Release Date: February 4, 2014
Rating: 5 stars (My Review)
This standalone broke me. It's not even 250 pages long and I was literally sobbing, which is actually pretty rare for me (like I might get teary at an emotional scene, but I rarely break down like that LOL). This was a great mystery with an awesome plot twist and it's definitely one of my binge-worthy reads!
4. Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
Series: Serpent & Dove Trilogy #1
Genres: YA Fantasy, Dystopia, Fairy Tale Retellings, Romance, Adventure
Release Date: September 3, 2019
Rating: 4 stars (My Review)
A witch and a witch hunter are forced to get married in this French-inspired fantasy kingdom. I absolutely loved this book! Funny characters, intricate magic system, great romance and a cool plot! I'm almost finished with the sequel, Blood & Honey, and I'm liking that one too! Can't wait to read the last book of the trilogy soon.
I didn't read too many books this month, mainly because I've got my university classes and not much free time. I'm usually able to read about 5-8 books a month, but I'm still happy with this! Remember: it's not about the QUALITY, not the quantity! 😊
