About Me
Hello, and welcome to my blog!
I'm Jasleen - a twenty-one-year-old business student (and unofficial book expert) from Canada! I started 100 Pages Left to discuss all things book-related (because I do it all day in my head anyway). I creae content ranging from spoiler-free reviews, and book discussions to monthly wrap-ups and recommendations. I primarily read fiction novels and my favourite book genre is fantasy, though I do enjoy science fiction, romance, and contemporaries as well!
When I'm not procrastinating by scrolling through TikTok, you can find me studying, playing badminton, or trying to read all the books on my endless TBR. I love talking nonstop about Taylor Swift, listening to my wide-ranged Spotify playlists (you got to have a playlist for every occasion), or enjoying the finer things of life.

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about me, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

5 Stars - Chef's Kiss
It was an amazing read that I truly enjoyed as it was always on my mind and I couldn’t wait to go back to reading it. The excellent writing style, exciting plot, and very interesting, well-developed characters created a beautiful novel that I will re-read at some stage. The story stayed with me long after reading and I got the urge to buy or create related art or items associated with it. A book with this rating will likely be featured on my Binge-worthy Reads Shelf and be highly recommended!

4.5 Stars - Awesome
I loved the book and couldn't put it down but there was just something missing. It wasn’t quite perfect because of the numerous grammar mistakes or just the writing style itself that irritated me while I was reading, or because I couldn’t personally relate to the characters and understand their motivations. I still enjoyed it enough that I would highly recommend this book! I might put this book on my Binge-worthy Reads Shelf.
4 Stars - Really Good
I really liked the book and found myself wanting to continue reading, but there was room for improvement. This was often due to ineffective world-building techniques, occasional weak dialogue, need for more concise character arc development, diction and writing style, or not being able to personally connect with or understand the majority of the characters. However, I would still highly recommend this as it will be a very enjoyable read.

3.5 Stars - Enjoyable
It was a great book but it could be improved. The writing style was good but needed that extra “oomph” that engaged the readers better. The plotline was somewhat predictable and there wasn’t too much character development, but it was still a good book. I would probably recommend this for those who haven’t read many books from my Binge-worthy Reads shelf, or for those who simply want a good but low-intensity read.
3 Stars - Average
I thought the book was good but it was either somewhat predictable and maybe even cliché. The plotline was average but did not connect with the characters enough. The writing style might have been bothering me as well, but I was still able to enjoy it. I might recommend this book for those who haven’t tried any of my Binge-worthy Reads.

2 Stars - Questionable At Best
This book was hard to finish and I wasn’t connecting with the story or the characters for at least a couple of reasons. I will often use this rating for well-written novels that had questionable themes in them or are aimed at the wrong audience. I know that some people may like reading books outside of their normal boundaries, but I still believe that certain themes should not be targeted towards a certain reader segment. I will also use this rating for books that had a weak plotline, underdeveloped character arcs, or vague exploration of the themes the author was attempting to address. Normally, I wouldn’t read anything with an average rating lower than 3.5 stars on Goodreads, so this rating will be used rarely (unless the book just didn’t live up to the hype).
1 Star - Terrible
If I did not enjoy a book, I may not review it. I don’t like criticizing someone’s work in that way, especially if I have nothing good to say about it. However, if I have strong objections and feel that others should know, I may write a one. Nonetheless, I will rarely finish a book that I was not able to connect with, so I will hardly use this rating.

Did Not Finish (DNF)
If I do not finish a book, I will not rate it. I believe that in order to give a true rating to a novel, you should read the entire book. I only DNF a book when I am not able to connect with it, or I am constantly baffled at the characters for being so unreasonable and unrealistic. I may write a review if I feel strong objections to the book, but it would be very rare.
